Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, Christian organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action worldwide. Habitat has built or renovated more than 800,000 homes around the world, providing more than 4 million people with safe, decent, affordable shelter. Habitat was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller along with his wife, Linda. Habitat for Humanity works in almost 80 countries worldwide. Local affiliates or community groups are supported by national, regional and area offices which provide training, information resources and oversight.
