The Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for the Progress of Humankind (fph) is an independent foundation under Swiss law.
Established in 1982 by Madeleine Calame, executor for Charles Léopold Mayer, with the bequest of the latter.
The foundation is committed to “finance -through donations or loans- researches and actions contributing in a significant and innovative way to the progress of humankind through science and social development”. The Board of Trustees comprises seven to eleven members; currently we have eleven. The implementation of the strategy is ensured by an executive team of thirteen employees.
Through its programs, that involve partners of the 5 continents, the foundation is concerned by the long term evolution of our societies. The global interdependences change the relationships between societies, individuals and between human-beings and nature. In this context the foundation made the choice to contribute to the emergence of a global community capable of driving three major mutations:
-
to conceive new forms of governance;
-
to adopt common ethical principles;
-
to implement the transition toward more sustainable societies.
