Since 1992 in the Constitution:

  • Article 57: Every senior citizen has a right to full protection. The family, society and the government will promote well-being with the social services that will take charge of its power needs, health, housing, culture and recreation.
  • Article 59: The family property, whose regime will be determined by the law, are recognized as an institution of social interest. They will include housing or family property, furniture and tools, which will be elusive.
  • Article 100: All the inhabitants of the Republic have the right to decent housing. The State shall establish the conditions to apply this law, and facilitate social interest housing projects, particularly for families with limited resources, with adequate funding.Source: CETIM (publication COHRE)
