Since 1995 – Article 31 of the Constitution:

Every citizen has the right to an adequate standard of living for himself or herself and her family, to adequate housing, and to the improvement of living conditions. The State must provide the essential means to enable the exercise of these rights.

HOUSING MARKET

The economic transition has created a broad movement to privatize housing. Today, 96% of the housing stock is in private hands, the 4% of public housing are not intended for the most disadvantaged groups. There is no housing assistance offered by the state.

Following the Soviet period, in the cities of many buildings acquired condominium. But the lack of maintenance of these units explains a large amount of these units is in a shameful state. In the most affected by the war (North East), many single women with children regions must cope alone with their precarious housing conditions.

QUALITY OF HOUSING

  • HABITAT FOR HUMANITY ARMENIA = humanitarian non-profit association whose goal is to eradicate poverty in terms of habitat and homelessness. To do this, they build and renovate housing worldwide, offer packages of micro-credit and loans, help to clean up homes, advocate for affordable housing for all.
